This hardy, active species is a great choice for beginner and experienced aquarists alike, adding lively movement to any community aquarium.

Water Quality Parameters for Swordtail:

Care & Compatibility:

Swordtails thrive in moderate to hard, well-filtered water with plenty of live plants and open swimming space. They are social fish and do best in groups of at least 3–5, with a 1:2 male-to-female ratio to prevent excessive chasing. Swordtails are compatible with Platies, Mollies, Guppies, Corydoras, Tetras, and other peaceful community fish. Avoid aggressive species or fin-nippers.

Diet & Feeding:

As omnivores, Swordtails require a balanced diet of high-quality flakes, pellets, frozen or live foods (such as bloodworms and brine shrimp), and vegetable matter like blanched zucchini, spirulina flakes, and algae wafers. A varied diet supports healthy growth, immune function, and vibrant coloration.
