Frogs and Toads

Frogs and toads are amphibians characterized by their moist, smooth skin, long hind legs built for jumping, and semi-aquatic lifestyles. Found in various habitats worldwide, from rainforests to deserts, they play crucial roles in ecosystems as both predators and prey. Physically, frogs typically have slender bodies and smooth skin, while toads are generally stockier with rough, warty skin. Their coloration often serves as camouflage, blending them into their surroundings. Frogs have longer, more streamlined bodies, suited for swimming and leaping, while toads' bodies are adapted for hopping and walking on land. Both frogs and toads undergo a fascinating life cycle, starting as aquatic larvae (tadpoles) before metamorphosing into adults. They rely on moist environments to keep their skin hydrated and to lay their eggs, typically in freshwater bodies like ponds, streams, or even temporary puddles.

Invertebrates

An invertebrate is a cold-blooded animal with no backbone. Invertebrates can live on land—like insects, spiders, and worms—or in water.
